THE 2019 NORTHERN CAPE SOCIAL SECTOR DIALOGUES

The Northern Cape Province will be hosting its 2019 Social Sector Dialogue which will be facilitated by the Department of Social Development (DSD), National Development Agency (NDA) and National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC), in collaboration with the Office of The Premier.

 

The Northern Cape Province will be hosting its 2019 Social Sector Dialogue which will be facilitated by the Department of Social Development (DSD), National Development Agency (NDA) and National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC), in collaboration with the Office of The Premier.

 

The Social Sector Dialogues which will be attended by 320 delegates from all districts across the province seeks to improve the interface between government and civil society and to address the challenges that Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) face. The provincial dialogues will culminate into a National Summit which will be held under the theme: “Strengthening partnership with the social sector toward poverty alleviation.”

Social partner organisations will engage in dialogues with government within the province regarding mechanisms for the attainment of the resolutions in the following areas:


1) Resource Mobilisation
2) Fragmentation in the regulatory framework
3) Transformation of the sector
4) Capacity support

Government is committed to operating within the developmental communication paradigm with fundamental values of democracy, openness and participation with the aim of building social cohesiveness and empowering citizens to participate in shaping policies.


The dialogues will create platforms for Civil Society Organizations to access relevant information and for the state to support the Organizations which add value to the development of our country.
