WHO IS THE NDA?

The NDA is an agency of the Department of Social Development tasked with contributing towards poverty eradication through engaging Civil Society Organisations and capacitating them to empower communities.

WHO EXACTLY GETS ASSISTED BY THE NDA?

The NDA supports Non Profit Organisations and Co-operatives that contribute towards poverty eradication in their communities. It does not support individuals nor companies registered with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC).

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET FUNDING FROM THE NDA?

Decisions to fund a project(s) could take anything from three to six months depending on the nature of the project. Feasibility studies/due diligence is normally undertaken before funding approval.  

HOW DOES ONE GET INVOLVED IN THE ECD CAMPAIGN THAT THE NDA IS CURRENTLY RUNNING?

You can visit the NDA’s Adopt an ECD portal on the NDA website and then select the ECD Centre that you would like to support.    

HOW DOES ONE APPLY FOR VACANCIES AT THE NDA?

Every Vacancy advert has information on how to apply or contact the HR Department. 

HOW AND WHEN CAN YOU REQUEST FOR FUNDING APPLICATION FORMS FROM THE NDA?

The NDA does not issue funding application forms. It has a pro-active approach to grant funding whereby it engages with targeted communities with the view to proactively identifying or creating community-based organisations to implement projects.

DOES THE NDA OFFER BURSARIES TO STUDENTS?

Unfortunately the NDA doesn’t offer bursaries externally.  

DO CSOs/PROJECTS GET ONCE OFF, MONTHLY OR YEARLY FUNDING FROM THE NDA?

Funding is for a minimum 12 months and a maximum of 36 months period. Payments are divided in three tranches payable upon achievement of agreed upon milestones.  This is based on the fact that development challenges cannot be addressed on a short-term basis but need long-term engagement.
