The National Development Agency's role in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic is implemented in partnership with 52 national Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) who provide poverty eradication interventions within their local communities. Through a grant funding intervention, each of the 52 CSOs has enlisted ten (10) volunteers to reach almost all districts within the country, to facilitate various programmes during the lockdown period.

Recent events publicized on the news recently once again bring the need for the protection of women and children to the fore, but truth is that this is an everyday, all year requirement. Equally, the spike in alcohol and drug usage and abuse have been reported. Alcoholism, is not only linked to negligence, but is a leading cause of violence and many other social ills.

The National Development Agency (NDA) has gained new leadership since our last editions, the appointments of Minister Lindiwe Zulu and NDA Board. We welcome the changes and look forward to advancing the NDA and CSOS in meeting the country's goals in the eradication of poverty.

The last quarter of the financial year is ending on a very high note for the National Development Agency. As Secretariat to the Presidential Civil Society Organisations Dialogue we have covered six provinces: Northern Cape, Free State, Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga, North West and Limpopo.

We have Just celebrated the national South African Early Childhood Development Awards in Polokwane, Limpopo, to acknowledge and reward the tireless work done within the sector. Congratulations to the winners!
